Specialty - Authentic hand painted slates, custom paintings on canvas and watercolor paper, house portraits

I have been painting for over 25 years, beginning with a class I took "way back when" at the local community college. I painted for family and friends for many of those early years. Then about 15 years ago, I began painting on old slate roof shingles taken from the Memorial Baptist Church in Williamston, NC. Since then, most of the work I sell at the craft shows is painted on slate. I love painting the snowmen and Santas especially the "vintage" style. Each one is unique! I try to keep the prices reasonable on my slate paintings so everyone can afford to have one. They make great gifts!

I also am known in the area for my custom house portraits. I can work from photos provided by the customer or I can do a site visit and take the photos myself. Many of my customers have brought me photos from the home they grew up in and they describe things they remember when they lived there and would like to see in the painting that is not captured in the photo.

Handmade decorative Glycerin Soaps

My soaps are made from an FDA approved cosmetic grade glycerin base, colors and fragrances. These soaps are very moisturizing without being oily or greasy. They make lots of lather and rinse clean without leaving a soapy residue.

Personalized gift baskets and bags are a specialty. Gift Baskets are available for all your special occasions. Choose the soaps and accessories you like for that special gift basket. Whether it is for a new bride, graduation, birthday, new baby, holiday, hostess gift, or just a thank you for a special person, your basket will be a one-of-a-kind gift.

Soap orders for wedding favors, showers, or to pamper yourself are always welcome. Small or large quantities are cheerfully accepted. Let me coordinate your bath, powder room or kitchen decor with a decorative soap. Over 50 different scents and over 200 shapes are available.

Lou Jean Manning is a local artist. Her specialty is "Louminations." Louminations are hand painted bottles and glass blocks illuminated with miniature lights. Lou Jean's first "Loumination" was a wine bottle painted with multicolored tropical fish. It became Lou Jean's fish bowl, but without the feedings and the cleanings. A Hatteras Lighthouse Loumination soon followed. That was six years ago. Now, Lou Jean does butterflies, hummingbirds, dragonflies, horses, cars, pigs, Christmas themes, snowmen, Santa Claus, snowflakes, baby bottles in pink and blue with diaper pins, rocking horses and teddy bears, and of course any North Carolina lighthouse, especially the Hatteras. She does custom designs such as favorite pets, home decor themes, schools, churches, and vacation places upon request. Louminations have been shipped to many of the states, England and China. You can start your collection of one-of-a-kind Louminations by visiting with Lou Jean at the Roanoke Arts and Crafts Guild Fair Christmas Show, or, sending an email.
